Molly Lambourn is an internationally exhibiting Fine Artist from Kent. Her practice specialises in drawing, she draws obsessively on 2D and 3D forms. Molly’s practice is inspired by literature and explores themes of womanhood, self, and the domestic. Her work is decadently intricate and detailed, subverting conventional images of beauty and femininity to explore darker realities. She has notably shown with the Royal Scottish Academy, Society of Women Artists, Turner Contemporary, Royal British Society of Artists, and the Supermarket Art Fair in Stockholm.
Every mark made in her work symbolises a powerful moment in history, the assertion of the importance of her story, the female narrative and also- for her the very personal conversion of negative emotions into the beautiful marks that compose her work. As well as telling personal stories, Molly’s work endeavours to tell the stories of women globally. Her travels to India and conversations with women there have continued to impact her work, which often will focus on issues such as domestic violence and female roles.
She is a member of ArtCan and regularly exhibits with them. History permeates Molly’s art practice and she has worked with Jane Austen’s House on a residency to explore Jane and also worked collaboratively with a Swedish artist to explore the life of Josephine Bonaparte.
